Nine Inch Nails and Queens of The Stone Age

man thursday was fucking awesome and im just writing about it now. the opener for these two awesome bands was a band that i will have to steal from in the futuren (reading this ben?) called death from above 1979. just a drummer who sings and a bass player that also plays synth. fucking awesome. anyway, while yes, nin was good, i actually liked qotsa's set better, because they just did what they did and heckled back at a couple of people. reznor kept saying thank you after every song, as if each one were the last they were playing. also, i dont think i got fiftyfive dollars worth of music from nin, since they were theoretically who i was paying the ticket for, and qotsa and dfa1979 are just added surprises. i mean, fiftyfive dollars for an hour and a half worth of music? i payed twenty for decemberists and they played for 2 hours. if i am paying over, say tewnty dollars, then i would like it if i got more than two firtyfive minute sets, since i can see a band in a bar somewhere for a ten dollar cover charge and just stay all night. i mean, it seems as if reznor is getting more and more greedy as time goes on: demanding more money for tickets on his last tour, complaining cos his album was leaked onto the internet ( a) its not that great of an album, cos i wouldnt spend fifteen on it, and b) everyone knows that you make money on touring and merch sales, not albums), playing for around an hour and a half? i mean, most of the music was prerecorded and the band was playing over tapes and synth triggers. im sure all his energy was not spent on singing and throwning mic stands around and slinging water everywhere. come on guys. you need to stop being such pussies and play for longer. also, if youre gonna break your shit after the show to let the audience know there will be no encore, at least BREAK the shit. slinging a guitar across stage and reeling it back in to throw at the drumset wont break a guitar, it might knocj a tuning peg off, or make it go outta tune. throwing it twenty feet in the air wont make it unplayable, especially since i know it was a custom shop and therefore probably reinforced. if youre gonna break shit, then at least break shit. i didnt see anything shatter, break apart, or otherwise look as if it were unplayable, at least from my seats (twenty-thirty feet from stage, maybe forty at the most).
