I'm Sorry; The Hopeless Romantic Is At It Again

"they resolved to wait and endure. they still had seven years more, and until then so much unbearable suffering and so much infinite happiness! but he was risen and he knew it, he felt it fully with the whole of his renewed being, and she--she lived just by his life alone!...he was thinking of her. he remembered how he had constantly tormented her and torn her heart; he remembered her poor, thin little face; but he was almost not even tormented by these memories: he knew by what infinite love he would now redeem all her sufferings."

Major Arcana

You scored as VI: The Lovers. This is a card symbolising couples, relationships and strong bonds. The love does not have to be physical, nor even called by that name. This card indicates the trust and openness of such a relationship. The two Lovers have no secrets from each other. In a Tarot reading this card can indicate the forging of a new relationship, the strengthening of an existing one or simply the two Lovers working together to overcome problems. This Card Reversed can represnt the loss of trust, possibly leading to the breakdown of the relationship, decption, pain.

I Win

having a discussion with the core professor about the influence of religion on empire and then leading to the influence of religion on music. prof says that the christian church actually didnt staunch the progression of music all that much. i say "really? what about gregorian chant?"

gregorian chant was the church's default music. in it, rhythm is not allowed. it is decadent, evil and sensuous. instrumentation is not allowed, it leads to rhythm and creation. the a capella voices cannot go beyond or below a certain 2-3 note range.

music stayed like this for around nine hundred years. can you imagine one type of music for almost a millenium, with no variation?

after the church loses control, the next two hundred years births around 80 different types of music, experimentation and instrumentation not seen since greco-roman involvement.

he then glances at his watch and says, "yeah, well, maybe another time. i havta go grab some stuff from lupton" then runs off. maybe he did have stuff to grab. me? i think that he was just bullshitting and assuming i dont know anything about historical music.
