Decemberists

man decemberists are fucking awesome! the drummer, for mariners revenge song, had a single drum with wheels on it and when he had to play, he beat the shit outta the head with a mallet and whacked the side with a tambourine for another effect. i wouldnt think to do that if i were the decemberists drummer. after they played their songs and encores, they went into self-destruct mode and destroyed their shit. the bassist flipped the standup around, while on his back, supported it on his knees and played it backwards before chucking it off him. the guitarist just threw this rickenbacker twelve-string, a hollowbody guitar with a concave back, on the ground, smashing the back out and causing enormous amounts of feedback. the drummer, while the singer demolished the drumkit, had a snare he was beating the fuck out of until he popped the head through with the drumstick. he then held the drum up by the stick in the head and threw it on the stage. he pushed over the lapsteel, and spazzed out on the floor until the guitarist and bassist picked him up by hands and feet, heave-hoing him to the crowd where he crowdsurfed. normally im not much for people ruining their instruments, but being in the mood that i was in the past week, this display of "autodestructionist art" was fucking awesome. i could definetely see how people would be into it every now and then.
what else is cool? what else is cool? hmmm, ben is an amazing magnet for picking up girls. he randomly talks to some, who hang out with us all of the show, and probably would have gone back to his place where "..." might occur if it were roleplaying. i should hang out with ben at concerts more often, getting laid by proxy.
i have tickets to see GWAR, Buckethead, and NIN. thats the extent of awesome on this front.
